Our Coaching Philosophy

Our philosophy has three important aspects.

Firstly, it’s about you. You are an amazing bundle of strengths, untapped capabilities, limitations and potential. Through coaching we will uncover your potential.

Secondly, it’s about your success. More particularly it is concerned with what success means to you. What are your goals? How do you measure success?

Lastly, it’s about your current environment. We talk about “context”. This includes all the wider factors that facilitate and perhaps hinder our success.

What Will We Be Doing Together


VG’s coaching engagement include four types of activities:

  1. Formal Sessions

    We will have formal coaching sessions once every month (depending on your availability). Each session will last for 1 to 2 hours and may be conducted face-to-face or over a video call.

    These sessions are the core of our work together and give us the opportunity to work through the issues in front of us.

  2. Feedback Tools

    A number of formal tools exist to you understand yourself, preferences and reaction to your environment. When appropriate we will ask you to complete one of these feedback reviews.

  3. Observations

    Your success doesn’t happen during a stand alone coaching session. It is created as you do your job and make progress towards your goals. Giving you valuable insight and feedback is an important part of our value. We will look for opportunities to watch you doing your job. These sessions of observation are very powerful.

  4. Ad-hoc support

    The challenges of leadership don’t fit nicely into a monthly coaching session. They can happen anytime. The most powerful time to create growth is at the point of a management or performance challenge. You can call or email us for support or clarification during these difficult moments.
